Workflows – Introduction to Flows
Introduction to Flows
What are Flows?
Flows are the backbone of SmartSpace’s workflow management, enabling users to automate complex processes using a series of interconnected blocks. Each flow is a defined sequence of actions where inputs are processed through various blocks, leading to a final output. This modular approach allows for flexibility and customization in how data and tasks are handled within your workspace.
The Structure of a Flow
A flow in SmartSpace is composed of several key components:
- Inputs: These are the starting points of any flow. Inputs can be user messages, uploaded files, or any data passed into the system.
- Blocks: These are the building blocks of the flow. Each block performs a specific function, whether it’s processing data, calling an external service, or manipulating information. Blocks can be configured to handle different types of inputs and produce outputs accordingly.
- Outputs: These are the endpoints of a flow, where the processed data or final result is made available. Outputs can be used within the platform or sent to an external system.
- Connections: These define the path data takes as it moves through the flow, linking blocks together based on the required input/output relationships.
Flexibility and Customization
SmartSpace flows are highly customisable, allowing users to tailor each flow to their specific needs. Blocks can be added, removed, or reconfigured as needed, and connections can be adjusted to create complex logic paths. The flexibility of flows makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from simple information retrieval to sophisticated data processing tasks.
Where to Start
Users can start working with flows right from their workspace interface. The visual Workflow Designer offers an intuitive way to build, modify, and manage flows, ensuring that both technical and non-technical users can create effective workflows.
